First day in Japan

Today is our first day in Japan. The flight from Sydney to Japan took about eight hours. This gave me time to practise my Japanese writing. I was able to revise my hiragana writing vocabulary. I was able to immediately put it into practice on the journey into Tokyo from Nartica airport.

It is strange begin back here after such a long break. It is going to take some time to adjust.

Today we are going to visit the recently restored Tokyo Station Hotel. This hotel was built at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 2012 it was restored to to its old world charm

Welcome

Welcome

This blog has been created to share the journey along the Nakasendo Way.

The Nakasendo Way explores one of Japan's ancient highways. The Nakasendo literally means " the road through the mountains "

In the seventeenth century, the Nakasendo was crowed with travellers, including feudal lords, samurai, merchants and pilgrims.
